Authentic Tube Overdrive Distortion and Tone

ABOUT
This distortion pedal is unique in that it uses a subminiature pentode (a power tube similar to the 6V6 and 6L6) to produce authentic power tube overdrive tone. This pedal can be used as a preamp and/or a distortion device. Other pedals of this sort use a triode tube such as a 12AX7 to overdrive, not a pentode, and thus the tone is totally different. Do not confuse this pedal with pedals using triode tubes. What is the difference? The difference is that overdriving a preamp tube hard produces a harsh distortion, whereas overdriving a pentode produces more of a crunch from smooth to hard depending on the amount of overdrive. You can get Bassman tone out of a solid state amp with this pedal. The pedal is designed with a high impedance FET buffer at the input to get the best tone from your pickup, and the bypass is a true bypass.

The Rocket 88 Overdrive can even be used as a backup to your amp and can provide great tube amp tone connected straight into the line input of a PA.

SETTINGS
Settings are very basic; for a clean tone turn the DRIVE counterclockwise and turn clockwise as you desire more distortion. Increasing the DRIVE also increases volume, so you will need to turn the VOLUME control down as the DRIVE control is turned up to prevent feedback. It is really simple: increase DRIVE and decrease VOLUME or decrease DRIVE and increase VOLUME. The TONE control is an active control that amplifies the frequency range that you select.

POWER
The Overdrive operates with two 9 volt batteries or an 18V DC power adapter. The battery is switched OFF when an external power supply is used. The LED is ON when the effect is in, and is OFF when the effect is in bypass. The "IN" jack acts as the ON/OFF switch. Battery life is estimated at 15 hours of playing time.
